Gallery - Selection of my work Paintings
I feel very fortunate to both live and work in an Idyllic part of the world here in South West Wales. The estuary with its changing moods and seasons has provided an endless source of inspiration. The lakes at The Stackpole Centre ( where my studio was based for 12 years) are both enchanting and awe inspiring, here nature seems to flourish, a joy to behold and a delight as an artist to interpret!
I became fascinated with batik when I was introduced to the technique at school, once the dye was brushed over the wax the whole image suddenly changed, quite magically, I was hooked ! and went on to study Fashion & Textiles. I am forever experimenting with materials and often incorporate found objects and mixed media into my work.
'''Although Living by an estuary in a pretty little village, I am not unaware of the wider world. ' Homage' 40 ceramic heads (2 shown here) were created after viewing TV images of genocide in Europe and other continents. The heads represented the nameless vicitms and were exhibited as part of Amnesty Internationals AGM at Swansea University 1999 and at Carmarthen Library as part of a fund-raising event for The British Red Cross..''
Photography played a large role on my degree course in Fashion and Textiles at Birmingham Polytechnic . Photography still plays a major role in my work, mainly to record and document ideas for paintings or textile works but with digital photography and photoshop programmes I also create unique images printed on high quality papers with giclee inks
